2/2LC: Slip 2 sts to CN and hold in front, K2, then K2 from CN.
2/2RC: Slip 2 sts to CN and hold in back, K2, then K2 from CN.
2/1LPC: Slip 2 sts to CN and  hold in font, P1, then K2 from CN.
2/1RPC: Slip 1 st to CN and hold in back, K2, then P1 from CN.

Pattern
Cast on a multiple of 8 sts, plus 4.
Preparation row: K2, P2, *K4, P4; rep from * to last 8 sts, k4, P2, k2.
Row 1 (RS): P2, *2/1LRC, P2, 2/1RPC; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.
Row 2 and all wrong side rows: Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches.
Row 3: P3, *2/1LRC, 2/1RPC, P2; rep from * to last st, P1.
Row 5: *P4, 2/2RC; rep from * to last 4 sts, P4.
Row 7: P3, *2/1RPC, 2/1LRC, P2; rep from * to last st, P1.
