Smocked Slip Stitch Pattern

How to knit the K1 uls.
Take the right-hand needle under the slipped threads, then pick up the next st on the left-hand needle and knit this st and the slipped threads together.

PATTERN
Cast on a multiple of 8 sts, plus 7.
Row 1 (RS): Knit 5, *Slip 5 wyif, Knit 3; rep from * to last 10 sts, Slip 5 wyib, Knit 5.
Rows 2 and all WS rows: Purl.
Rows 3, and 5: Knit 5, *Slip 5 wyif, Knit 3; rep from * to last 10 sts, Slip 5 wyib, Knit 5.
Row 7: Knit 7, *Knit 1 uls, Knit 7, repeat from *.
Rows 9, 11, and 13: Knit 1, *Slip 5 wyif, Knit 3; rep from * to last 6 sts, Slip 5 wyif, Knit 1.
Row 15: Knit 3, *Knit 1 uls, Knit 7; rep from * to last 4 sts, Knit 1 uls, Knit 3.
